A very important task for volunteers at The Food Bank is to pack and sort donated bulk food. This includes inspecting, cleaning, sorting, and preparation of special food boxes. This is all part of preparing donations for distribution.
We have FIVE Food Distribution sites in Nevada County, where our volunteers assist in handing out food to families and individuals in need. Assist with loading food into cars, packing final grocery items, and cleaning up distribution sites.
Every summer, The Food Bank looks for reliable volunteers to help with preparing and packing lunches and drivers to deliver to our local children in need. This is a valuable and great opportunity for local students to fulfill volunteer hours and get more involved in their community.
Assist with unloading trucks, sorting donations, and organizing inventory.
Requires ability to lift 50lbs and comfort with warehouse environments.
Assist in collecting food from partner organizations and additional locations across the county. Must have a clean driving record and experience with box trucks.
Create and inspire community action through fundraising, food drives, and outreach events. Great for individuals with strong communication, organization, and creativity skills!
Harvest surplus crops from local farms to provide fresh produce for those in need. Join a team or lead a group of volunteers to gather food from the fields in partnership with Sierra Harvest.
Build relationships with the community and local farmers. Rescue fresh produce and coordinate donations. For those with an interest in agriculture and community engagement!
We've got volunteer opportunities where you can plan food drives and fundraising events that give right back to your community. Think of it as spreading kindness — with a side of fun and teamwork!
