We here at the Food Bank of Nevada County are so grateful for the contributions made by the individual members and institutions of our community. You are making our community a better place!
We'd like to give a huge shout-out to Big A's Root Beer Drive In for hosting our drive-thru volunteer appreciation event. Not only did they feed our volunteers, they let them know just how much we cherish each and every one of them.
In addition to Big A's, many local businesses very generously donated gift cards as raffle prizes for our volunteers. These businesses included:
Thank you to everyone who contributed, we can only hope our volunteers know how much we truly value what they do for our community.
Foothill Electric, in the frenzy of their busiest time of the year, ordered us a generator for the power outage season that's scheduled to arrive much sooner than the average rate. On top of that, they immediately came out to our warehouse to do electrical work and install a switch for our new generator. Thank you so much Foothill Electric.
In September of 2020, Pacific Gas and Electric Company graciously gifted us with multiple grants to support us and Nevada County as a whole during the power outages. We are so appreciative!
Thank you to the Nevada County Relief Fund for providing us with a much needed monetary grant in response to COVID-19. As our numbers skyrocketed due to the pandemic, The Nevada County Relief Fund helped us to stay on our feet, able to assist all those who reached out to us.
UNFI is our largest food donor, making our weekly distributions possible. Without UNFI, we wouldn't be able to feed all those that we do. We are so incredibly thankful for all of their help. Thank you UNFI!
Briar Patch has been assisting us year-round, constantly donating fresh produce for us to distribute as well as bringing us hardworking and enthusiastic volunteers. They also offer their customers the option to round up their total to the nearest dollar amount to donate to us. We appreciate you so much Briarpatch!
When moving to a larger location, Holiday Market in Auburn made the compassionate decision to donate ALL of their leftover stock from their old location. With this we were able to supply our community with an assortment of items we would have otherwise had no access to. Their genorosity has greatly impacted both our organization and many members of Nevada County.
Along with holding a donation drive in our honor, Sierra Timberline also made a charitable donation of a generator for our warehouse. During the power outages last year, we really struggled in keeping our food fresh. Now we can ensure that our food remains safe year round.
We'd also like to give a huge shout out to Mountain Bounty Farm in Nevada City for supplying us with produce for our distributions in North San Juan. Thank you so much, we couldn't do it without you guys!
The Rotary Club of Grass Valley very considerately gifted us with a new power jack for our warehouse. This significantly aids our process and we are filled with gratitude. Thank you so much!
SaveMart supports the Food Bank year-round, helping thousands in our community. Every year they host a holiday Turkey Drive in November, they provide their customers the opportunity to round up their totals in support of the Food Bank in December, and host an annual Peanut Butter Drive in May. In addition, this year in March they gifted us with emergency pallets of food to feed Nevada County at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. A million thanks to SaveMart!
We are so thankful to the Nevada County Farm Bureau for so graciously donating three whole pigs that were fully cut and smoked. They did this entirely free of charge. These pigs will help provide protein to many families in Nevada County in need. Your kindness will not be forgotten!
Our local Safeway was selfless enough to donate a sizeable amount of money for us to be able to purchase more food for our patrons. Thank you Safeway!
During a time of exceptional need, Lynne Nugent and Sarah Freitas started a matching donation campaign for the Food Bank. They pledged to match up to $5000 for the Food Bank and all of the donations over $100 received a jar of specialty jam courtesy of the Lynne and Sarah. Thank you for your help, Sarah and Lynne. You have made a huge impact and your donation will help feed the thousands of people each week and the jam was delicious!
Placer Mailing Services so kindly provided us with complimentary mailing services. This privilege has been so integral to our success, we are so appreciative!
