We sincerely value the efficiency of our School Snack Program which was established to feed school children who would otherwise go hungry until lunch. School and children’s programs in our county that do not receive government funding for snacks contact the Food Bank, and through your efforts we are able to provide those snacks. Since the beginning of the School Snack Program, teachers have noticed an increase in the level of attention form their class and an overall improvement in the grades of the children who are now getting a healthy nutritious breakfast.
Our wish for the years to come is that no one in Nevada County will have to experience hunger.

Recent federal legislation, known as HR1, has resulted in changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known in California as CalFresh.
As a result of these changes, approximately 2,500 Nevada County residents have lost CalFresh benefits. Some households may also experience changes to eligibility requirements or benefit levels.
